Prefeasibility study for processing and laboratory testing of pyrite stockpiles at the Cerro de Pasco UM Oxide Plant (CdP), owned by Volcan Compañía Minera (VCM)

- Cliente: Volcan Compañía Minera
- Dirección: La planta de oxidos está ubicada a 4,200 m.s.n.m, en el departamento de Pasco.
- Resumen: Pre-feasibility studies to evaluate the opportunity to process pyrites profitably at the oxide plant. The tailings produced from this processing will be sent to the Raul Rojas pit at the Cerro de Pasco MU.
-
Descripción:
- CdP stored a material composed mainly of pyrites with silver content during the years of exploitation of the Raúl Rojas pit (until 2012). Over time, these pyrites became stockpiles.
- The objective of these laboratory tests is the physical-chemical and geotechnical characterization of the tailings and, with this information, evaluate how the tailings will be disposed of, transported and behave in the already exploited open pit.
- The thickening and rheological tests will allow us to evaluate up to what percentage of solids the tailings can be transported and deposited by pumping. In addition, an appropriate thickening technology will be recommended, considering: location of the tailings plant, distance to the open pit from the tailings plant, processing volume and physicochemical characteristics of the tailings.
