Conceptual and Feasibility Engineering of the Julcani UEA Filtered Tailings Deposit and Plant owned by Compañía de Minas Buenaventura

- Resumen: CMB is considering using the R1-R5 tailings dam area for the disposal of filtered tailings as an alternative to the R9 tailings dam to ensure the operational continuity of the Julcani UEA. According to the above, CMB requires a conceptual trade-off to determine the location and filtering technology to follow, considering technical, social, environmental, permit and cost aspects, which allow for safe and lower cost disposal.

Descripción:
The technology and selected site will be developed at a feasibility level with the minimum level required by the authority for engineering studies as a basis for environmental management instruments.
As part of the design, CMB has requested that tests be carried out to characterize the tailings rheology-filterability in order to be able to size the major equipment and have a better approximation of the costs, and has requested that a stability analysis be carried out with the objective of sizing and maximizing the useful life of the filtered tailings deposit with the available materials, the same tailings and/or mine waste or a combination of the same.
The study is required to be carried out in two stages:
- Stage 1 Evaluation of site and filtering technology alternatives
- Stage 2 – Feasibility study of the deposit and filtering plant
