- Resumen: To meet the original design, the Huachuacaja tailings dam needs to be raised from 4221 m above sea level to 4223 m above sea level, requiring approximately 260,000 m³ of type 4 granular material and 12,000 m³ of type 1 material, which must be inert and low-fineness soils. To ensure the supply and quality of these materials, SMEB seeks to take advantage of the resources of the pit and the Vanesa and Victoria quarries through the geotechnical and geochemical characterization of samples, ensuring their suitability as structural fill. This stage included tests, analysis and dam design carried out by Lara Consulting.

Descripción:
- Conducting geotechnical characterization tests: particle size by sieve, specific gravity, humidity, hydraulic conductivity, density, porosity and absorption.
- Conducting geochemical characterization tests: ABA, NAG and SPLP.
- Stability analysis of the main dam with quarry material under evaluation.
- Conducting a simplified stability analysis to determine safety factors in static, pseudo-static and post-earthquake conditions.
- Using foundation soil strength parameters, water level and known seismicity for stability analysis of the dam.
- Design of the Huachuacaja main dam considering alternative materials if material 4 is not available according to the design.
- Determining the general arrangement of the main dam based on the stability analysis for elevation 4223.
- Determining the quantities of materials needed for the dam at elevation 4223.
